Discover the very best of the Ionian in miniature

  • Enjoy the beautiful hidden bays of Paxos and Antipaxos, from the water on a private exquisite boat cruise
  • Work on your tan, snorkel and swim in secluded beaches

Take a boat trip to gorgeous little Paxos and Antipaxos islands from neighbouring Corfu and discover one of the undisputed hidden gems of the Ionian Sea with exotic beaches and irresistible bays

It’s as if the Ionian Islands took everything that makes them unique – the impossible shades of blue and lush greenery – and created perfection in miniature when it comes to two of its smallest isles.

Postage stamp-sized it might be, but Antipaxos (or Antipaxi) makes a huge impression on day-trippers from Paxos or Corfu. Its beaches routinely feature in international best-of lists, and its romantic bays are the kind you instantly want to frame and hang on the wall of your living room. There are 150 houses on Antipaxos, but only two are inhabited during the winter months. And exploring the island on foot couldn’t be easier, with a path running down the centre that takes only an hour to cover.

Cook like a Corfiot: Master a 5-course meal an a Historic Vinyard

  • Visit a traditional family-run estate with Venetian heritage in Central Corfu
  • Learn first-hand from the owner about the vineyard and traditional olive and wine making processes
  • Discover the essentials of Corfiot cuisine and the local culinary culture
  • Sample home-made products such as tsipouro and/or wine and many others, depending on the season of your visit
  • Roll up your sleeves to prepare local recipes using traditional techniques and fresh, seasonal ingredients
  • Enjoy a full 5-course meal (cooked and prepared by you and the owners), accompanied by local wines

Description:

Inside this vast and verdant estate, where vine and olive cultivation has existed for more than 400 years, a simple and adaptable space has been created to showcase the elements of traditional Corfiot architecture. The estate was acquired by the ancestors of today’s owners in 1600 when they emigrated from Venice to Corfu.

Today, a quarter of the total expanse (of approx. 74.000 sqm) is given over to newly-planted vineyards and olive groves. The rest has been preserved as pristine Mediterranean forest. Corfu has been a wine producing island since antiquity (references can be found in Homer’s Odyssey). Meanwhile, the cultivation of olive trees became widespread during the Venetian occupation of Corfu, between 1386 and 1797, when olive oil was an important commodity. Not so much as food but as a lighting source.

Let’s begin our flavourful adventure with a special welcome refreshment (choose from a herbal tea such as lemon verbena, lavender and lemon or a chilled red wine with citrus fruits). Next, the owner of the vineyard and restaurant will share the family history of this marvellous property, with an introduction to the vineyard, and a wrap-up of the processes behind traditional olive and wine making.

Enlighten yourself at the exhibit of pre-industrial equipment, used for the production of wine and olive oil, before getting acquainted with the estate’s old Corfiot grape varieties: Red “skopelitiko” and white “kakotrigis” – that are spun into delicious wines by traditional methods and aged in oak barrels.

Next it’s time to lay the groundwork for an understanding of the famous Corfiot cuisine and the Corfiot culinary culture. We’ll drive the lessons home by tasting some local home-made products such as tsipouro and/or wine, and many others depending on the season of your visit. Now, you’re ready to cook delicious authentic recipes using your newfound knowledge, along with the freshest seasonal ingredients.

Finally, you’ll sit down to enjoy a 5-course meal comprised of over 15 different authentic local dishes (cooked and prepared by you, with some help from the owner), and accompanied by their own wines. The menu varies according to the availability of ingredients and your preferences.

Discover the enchanting traditional villages of South Corfu, each with its unique cultural charm and character. Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of diverse cultures that make up this picturesque region.

  • A Cultural Journey: Enriching Insights and Local Stories – As you traverse these charming villages, your trusted “destination angel” will be your guide, weaving the local history, culture, and lifestyle into your experience. Gain a deeper understanding of the traditions that have shaped this part of Corfu.
  • The Liquid Gold of Corfu: A Visit to a Traditional Olive Press – Your adventure continues with a visit to a traditional olive press, where you’ll learn about the significance of Corfiot olive oil. Discover the age-old techniques and methods that have been passed down through generations.
  • An Olive Oil Tasting Experience: Savoring Liquid Gold – The culmination of your journey is an olive oil tasting, allowing you to immerse yourself in the exquisite flavors of Corfu’s “liquid gold.” Delight in the nuances and complexities of this essential ingredient in Mediterranean cuisine.

This experience promises not only to tantalize your taste buds but also to provide a deep and meaningful connection with the culture and culinary heritage of South Corfu.

  • Visit the Museum of the Corfu Philharmonic Society and interact with a musician
  • Unlock the cultural legends and hidden gems of the Old Town
  • Savour authentic Greek treats at a famous traditional dairy shop
  • Explore the Archaeological Museum

Your destination angel for the day will share fascinating stories about this Corfiot emblem and its cultural highlights, such as the British-built chapel of Saint George, the stately Public Library, the British military hospital and the Music Department of the Ionian University (find out which of these local landmarks is rumoured to be haunted!).

Did you know that the Museum of the Corfu Philharmonic Society honours the composer of the Greek national anthem? Whenever you visit Corfu, there is a chance you’ll encounter one of the many Corfiot brass bands marching through the Old Town in a local celebration. As part of your visit to the museum, you will have the chance to meet and chat with one of the musicians of the Philharmonic Society.

Next, we will introduce you to the hidden gems and colourful legends of Corfu’s Old Town. Learn the special local name for those distinctive slim passages. Your destination angel will walk you through all the most important sites such as the Saint Spyridon Church, Kremastis Square, Mpizi’sKantouni, while sharing historical accounts about the dark side of Corfu Town during the Medieval and Venetian eras. What were the notorious Sagrado and why were they so feared by the Venetians LOCALS?

Next, we will strike a sweet note by sampling a traditional Greek dessert, “Galaktompoureko”, at renowned dairy shop, Periklis Alexis, which once dispatched their delicious products by plane every fortnight to Jackie Kennedy. Your cultural odyssey will conclude with a visit to the Archaeological Museum of Corfu where you will browse ancient relics unearthed from several excavated sites across Corfu, dating from Prehistoric to Hellenistic times.
