Day 1-6 Paris, France

From ancient history to the Medieval era, you will trace history through important cultural and architectural sites, stopping to admire the Gothic church of Saint Severin, one of the oldest on Paris’ Left Bank, Ile de la Cite, and the magnificent Notre Dame Cathedral. After the fire of April 2019, access to Notre Dame has been closed, but your guide knows how to bring you as close to Notre Dame as possible, using the passage left open for local residents. From there to Sainte-Chappelle, and the leafy Place Dauphine, 17th-century architecture and urban design and the role of the aristocracy in the development of the city you see today.

After lunch, enjoy a digestive tour through the vineyard of the Côte des Blancs and Vallée de la Marne. Learn the characteristics of pinot noir, chardonnay, and pinot Meunier and enjoy amazing views over the vineyard.

Then, your guide will drive you to Hautvillers, a typical French village, home of the legendary Dom Perignon. Last but not least, visit another family-run winery where you will learn the art of sabrage or disgorgement “à la volée” (a technique for opening a Champagne bottle), depending on availability. Taste several delicious Champagnes before heading back to Paris.

Day 6-9 Dijon, France

Dijon is the capital city of the historical Burgundy region in eastern France, one of the country’s principal wine-making areas. It’s known for its traditional mustard, vineyard tours, autumn gastronomic fair, and building styles ranging from Gothic to art deco. The distinguished 1787 Musée des Beaux-Arts, housed in the vast Palace of the Dukes, holds a rich collection of paintings, sculptures, crafts, and antiquities.

For gourmands around the world, it is a happy coincidence that the woodland terrain around Dijon provides the ideal conditions for cultivating mustard plants with pungent seeds. The Dijon style of mustard is so distinctive that the town’s name is synonymous with this gourmet product, created by gently milling the seeds of locally grown mustard plants. In fact, the venerable condiment has been produced here since the 14th century.

Rendezvous in a surprising setting where an expert will reveal the secrets of Dijon’s famous produce and will invite you to make your own mustard. At the end of the workshop, you will be given your self-made concoction to take home!

Ready to cook in Burgundy? With this course, the kitchen will have no secrets for you. You are welcomed by the chef in her warm and modern kitchen workshop.

Put on your apron and prepare a menu around a theme, a country, or a product. At the end of the cooking class and to top off your efforts, enjoy your preparations around a good glass of wine.

As an example, on the theme verrine and siphon:

Day 10 Paris, France
