Island Hopping – visit the famous island of “Monuriki” where the Tom Hanks movie ‘Cast Away’ was filmed. Monuriki Island is a member of the Mamanuca Group. A coral reef surrounds the island on all sides. Monuriki is a true “Robinson Crusoe” island in that it possesses all the essential features of an island, including cliffs, plains, beautiful white sand, lagoons with brilliant blue water, a hill, coconut palms, and other vegetation above. Even a green Iguana found exclusively in Fiji, the Fiji crested Iguana, may be seen on the island.
Tom Hanks, one of the greatest performers of all time, played the lead character in Cast Away, one of the finest films of all time, which was shot on Monuriki Island. Since that film, Monuriki has grown to be a well-known tourist destination. He is forced to survive on an island as the lone survivor of a plane crash.
Yes, everyone who watched the movie recalls “Wilson” and his legendary shout, “WILSOOOOOONNNNN!” Once heard, it is impossible to forget. The blood has obviously been replaced with paint because it became fairly popular.
