Your journey begins with a stop in Durnstein (the Legend of Robinhood) located in the gorgeous Wachau region. You’ll visit the Castle of Duernstein where Richard the Lionheart was captured shortly before Christmas 1192 near Vienna.
The drive continues to Lake Attersee where the world-known artist Gustav Klimt spent every summer painting most of his landscape pictures and along the entire lake from Seewalchen to the village of Unterach, sometimes referred to as Little Venice.
Next is the quaint and charming village of Mondsee. The village is home to the Sound of Music Wedding Church, where the wedding scene of the world-famous movie Sound of Music was filmed.
