From Fort Lauderdale to Connecticut to Las Vegas to Super Bowl Mania!

Posted on Travel February 4, 2016 by Lisa Crawford

Yesterday Ft. Lauderdale to Westchester Connecticut, today Vegas, and on Super Bowl Sunday, the Stars!

Nowadays I seem to find myself traveling more than ever.  It’s one of my New Year’s Resolutions so I guess this is an easier one to keep than perhaps losing weight!  But I will say however it has been 3 weeks since Sunday and I have not had a glass of wine!  Never thought I could do it but I have and I feel good!  And since then I really have taken off 5 pounds. Please keep in mind that I did not say that I have given up drinking, just wine so please do not give me that much credit.  My new drink of choice, thanks to one of my clients, turned very good friend is The Macallan 18.  For those of you are unfamiliar, much like I was, it is single malt scotch gold in color, with aromas of oak and sherry. The body is huge and silken with a very complex body with hints of leather, licorice, and tobacco.  On the rocks and one is all it takes.  And only 75 calories!! I think that may work for now.

Where was I?  Oh yes, traveling.  So yesterday I flew to from Ft. Lauderdale to Westchester, NY.  Upon landing a quick trip to second home in Stamford, Connecticut for a quick visit with my husband.  Today off to Vegas with one of my longest and dearest friends from New Jersey. We haven’t traveled together for many years so what better place to pick up than Vegas.

Encore by Wynn Hotel Las Vegas

This quick trip will combine a little bit of work and a lot of fun.  One of my favorite places to stay on the strip is the Encore at the Wynn.  Connected to the mother property via a walkway of amazing shops, the Encore is a little hipper and more trendy.  For the 6th year in a row, Condé Nast Traveler has named Encore one of the top 100 hotels in the world on the 2015 Gold List.  Donna has never been to Vegas so this will be a real treat!  And did I mention the shopping?  Probably not because my husband will definitely be reading my blogs starting today.  Oh but what the heck.  The Wynn and Encore Esplanades have more designer shops than I can count and great unique shopping experiences like Givenchy’s first U.S. boutique and the one-of-a-kind Rolex Experience.

Isn’t the trend of 2016 to EXPERIENCE?

But the highlight of Vegas is sure to be Jennifer Lopez.

Global superstar Jennifer Lopez in Vegas for her first ever headlining residency “Jennifer Lopez: All I Have” at the Planet Hollywood. From New York, to Florida and now to Vegas. Jennifer, one of my all-time favorites will show off her many talents and mega star power. It is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience which combines some raw personal moments, Hollywood glamour, rock star persona and Latin American heritage.  The show is getting rave reviews along with a five-piece live band and 16 dancers with extravagant costumes that come to life on stage each night. State-of-the-art technology in sets, lighting, video and special effects, makes Jenny on the block larger than life and interweaves different parts of her life as an Actress, a Dancer, and Pop Star.

And if that is not enough I will be meeting my clients from Atlanta for a very personal Meet & Greet with the one and only.  The excitement is building.  Stay tuned for my review!

Let’s not forget the restaurants, clubs, entertainment and Black Jack tables.  These are a few of my favorite things.  We will be visiting a home-town favorite, Martorano’s  at Paris.  With Steve’s home-style cuisine and edgy attitude. Celeb, Steve Martorano is a popular chef, DJ and cookbook author.  If you come from Philly and live in South Florida, you cannot help but fall in love with Steve!

Bazaar!  Yes, Bazaar Meat from the “brilliant” chef José Andrés. Located in the relatively new SLS, this  Las Vegas steakhouse offers an “eclectic menu” starring “marvelous” beef along with “unusual” meaty options, from cotton candy foie gras to a Spanish ham that “melts in your mouth.”  Not cheap but who cares, it’s all about the experience and after all you are in Vegas!

Then it’s time to unwind.  Really??  Can you guess what the next stop is?  A hint………It’s not just about the game, it’s about the commercials.  Stay tuned.  We’re going to the SUPER BOWL!!!!
