If you’re one of the millions of people in the United States who are searching for their ancestry, the good news is that genealogy in most places is pretty straightforward. Every day more and more resources become available online, and there’s plenty of advice and support out there from genealogy experts and organizations to blogs and family history sites.
Whether you wish to travel to trace your family’s roots, or just to visit the places they worked and lived can be a very rewarding experience by bringing your family history to life. A Genealogy Travel Package by a trusted Genealogist can also make all the difference.
On any vacation, time is limited so it’s best to plan ahead. Here are a few things to consider:
It’s important to decide which kind of vacation you want. One of our team members, Bonnie has been a genealogist since 1994 and with our connections, we can help you plan your family history vacation to make the most of your time while you are there.

We also recommend reviewing all the old photos you may have as they provide clues to where your ancestors lived and vacationed.
I have to share this poem, which I’ve always loved! I would recommend that everyone interested in their family history go through their old photos with their eldest relatives to find out your stories!
Strangers in the Box
Strangers in the Box
Come, look with me inside this drawer,
In this box I’ve often seen,
At the pictures, black and white,
Faces proud, still, serene.
I wish I knew the people,
These strangers in the box,
Their names and all their memories
Are lost among my socks.
I wonder what their lives were like,
How did they spend their days?
What about their special times?
I’ll never know their ways.
If only someone had taken time
To tell who, what, where, or when,
These faces of my heritage
Would come to life again.
Could this become the fate
Of the pictures we take today?
The faces and the memories
Someday to be passed away?
Make time to save your stories,
Seize the opportunity when it knocks,
Or someday you and yours could be
The strangers in the box.
