Top Blogs of the Year (By the Stats)

by Taylor Deer

I cannot believe it has been a little over a year since I started my travel blogging journey. I am so thankful that I was able to join the SitInMySeats Travel team because if it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t have seen some of the places I did and also experience some out-of-this-world adventures.

I also want to thank each of you for your support and interest in all of my blog posts. As a gift of gratitude, I am so excited to announce my top 10 travel blogs of the year and explain how you could relive my adventures! We also offer some great packages for you and your loved ones, so get ready and start packing for your next grand vacation.

Lavallette, New Jersey

As a place that holds a special and “homey” place in my heart, this blog post rocked the charts! I believe the reason why this blog post was so popular is that it holds a special place in many people’s hearts. Anyone who enjoys summers in Lavallette beach knows that it is more than just a vacation town; it is a community.

There is so much to do at the Jersey Shore, from the best white-sand beach to the amazing food and thrillers; you will be aching to travel back here every summer.

Galway, Ireland

After showcasing my taste of the royal life on Instagram, there is no wonder why everyone was interested in reading my blog about my stay at Ashford Castle. Seriously though, Ashford Castle was definitely a major highlight of my trip to Ireland. A year ago, I would have never thought I would’ve experience staying in an actual castle, wandering through secret gardens and FLYING FALCONS! This trip was definitely hard to beat.

Ireland was definitely a trip that knocked me off of my feet. Between the emerald-green nature, friendly locals, fun activities and beautiful hotels, there is nothing bad to say about this wonderful country. We have some amazing packages to Ireland where you could experience wandering through the rolling hills of beautiful Killarney, pub-crawling in Dublin and Galway, dreaming in front of Cliffs of Moher and so much more!

Portland, Maine

I definitely consider Portland, Maine an underrated city in the United States. This funky seacoast town offers some of the most amazing seafood restaurants you will ever eat at in your life, fancy cocktail joints, history, art and beautiful nature.

No matter what time of the year you travel to Maine, it is always beautiful. Even though I traveled to Portland during the spring, I highly recommend making this trip happen in the fall because there is nothing better than New England fall foliage.

Speaking of fall foliage, we have an amazing “5-Nights in New England Fall Foliage” tour. Included in this package, you could explore Boston on a hop-on/hop-off sightseeing tour. Relive history as you follow the Battle Train through Historic Lexington, Concord, and Cambridge. You could also discover Portland on a land and sea expedition!

Iceland

Iceland was the first country I wrote about when I first started travel blogging, so you know this post means something special. In all honesty, what is there not to love about the land of fire and ice? During January 2017, I had the opportunity to travel to Iceland for four full days and during that time, I saw so many natural wonders!

Between the waterfalls, geysers, black-sand beaches, glaciers, tectonic plates, hot springs, aurora borealis (northern lights) and so much more, I guarantee your eyes will be filled with wonder just as much as mine were when you travel to Iceland.

Live my trip to Iceland and check out our “5-Nights Fire and Ice (Start and End in Reykjavík)” tour. During this time, you’ll glide through Iceland’s outdoor playground and devour the eccentric buzzing capital.

Sicily, Italy

Last summer, I spontaneously booked a trip to visit a friend in Sicily for my 26th birthday. During my time in Sicily, I got to see some of the jewels of the Italian island. Between tasting gelato in Cefalú; admiring the gorgeous Mediterranean Sea in Taormina; having a surprise birthday party thrown for me in Catania; cave sailing in Siracusa; visiting my ancestor’s home in Ragusa and hiking Mount Etna, I could definitely say that this trip was unforgettable. In addition, I also got to visit the small European island of Malta for a day!

If you are interested in living my Sicily and Malta trip, definitely check out our “10-Nights in Sicily and Malta” tour. This summer, you could enjoy warm Mediterranean hospitality as you journey from picture-perfect fishing villages to ancient Greek temples. Witness the rich legacies of the ancient Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans and Ottoman Turks. Taste Sicilian wine, feast on seasonal cuisine and meet passionate locals as you adventure.

Bangkok, Thailand

The vibrant capital of Thailand is largely known for its ornate shrines, gorgeous temples, and exciting street life. As the first Asian city that I visited, I remember how amazed I was by all of the handmade goods and tasty eats that were offered amongst locals. In addition, it felt amazing to wander around in comfy Elephant Pants and purchase goods off of long-tail boats at Thailand’s famous floating markets.

We offer several Thailand packages and create custom-design tours to perfectly capture the trip of your dreams. Besides the wonderful city of Bangkok, some other exciting Thailand destinations are Chiang Mai, where you could feed and play with the elephants; Phuket, where you could live the island life and so much more!

Lisbon, Portugal

During the summer I studied abroad in Spain, I had the opportunity to travel to the beautiful European country of Portugal. I adored this country and found the city of Lisbon to be an underrated city in Europe. Lisbon holds a lot of gems and visiting these stunning places were definitely some of the highlights of my time there. From wandering through Sintra to relaxing in the breathtaking coastal villages to having fun in the city, to learning Portugal’s history and tasting the amazing cuisine; you too will fall in love with this city.

We have a great “6-Nights Highlights of Portugal” tour that we would love to offer you. Explore the seven hills of Lisbon, step back in history and soak up the classic Portuguese culture.

San Diego, California

If you haven’t read my past blog posts yet, please know that San Diego is by far one of my favorite cities in the United States. It offers a range of stunning beaches, breathtaking scenery, a fun city as well as some of the best foodie spots. Between visiting Balboa Park, relaxing at Coronado, playing with the seals in La Jolla, hiking Point Loma and eating your way through Little Italy, there is something for everyone in San Diego!

Now, it’s your turn to visit San Diego and figure out why it is one of my favorite places.

We have an awesome “5-Nights in San Diego” package. Use code 1301733 when you click here.

Boston, Massachusetts

Last fall, my cousin Alexie and I made our way up to Boston. Even though Alexie went to college in the Boston area, it was my first time exploring the city and I loved it! This colonial city is filled with charming neighborhoods, amazing restaurants, fun bars, beautiful parks and a lot of history! On top of all the fun we had, we also stayed at the eclectic Liberty Hotel, located in my favorite area of the city – Beacon Hill. Before this luxury hotel became an innovative attraction, it operated as the Charles Street Jail for over 120 years.

Live my weekend getaway and check out our “5-Nights in Boston” package. Follow the Freedom Trail past Old North Church, Paul Revere Park, Faneuil Hall, the Commons, Old Ironsides and more landmarks of America’s birth. Back in town, enjoy clam chowder at the wharf or great Italian food in the North End.

Mykonos, Greece

It is by no doubt that the Greek Islands were one of my favorite destinations and Mykonos is definitely a hot spot. In this famous Greek Island, you can catch celebrities roaming the glamorous street, Matoyánni, lined with high-end boutiques, charming cafes and world-renowned restaurants. Besides dazzling beaches, Mykonos has a great history and tradition, so you can find great archeological sites and museums.

Experience one of my favorite trips by reading all about our “8-Nights Discover Greece in Athens, Santorini and Mykonos”. Experience Athens, the cradle of western civilization as well as the enchantments of two of Greece’s most beautiful islands. Mykonos is famous for windmills and nightlife, while Santorini is known to be the site of Atlantis.
